NIVEL FORMATIVO:MAGISTER I.DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO Este curso analiza algunos de los problemas sociales mas importantes que enfrenta America Latina. Durante el curso, se revisaran teorias y literatura en torno a la formacion de instituciones, distintos desafios asociados a la desigualdad, el cambio cultural y la persistencia de la violencia, entre otros. Se espera poder contrastar las principales teorias con material empirico y ofrecer la posibilidad de que el estudiante proponga preguntas originales y emprenda investigacion autonoma sobre los temas que mas le interesen. II.RESULTADOS DE APRENDIZAJE 1.Analizar el desarrollo de los principales aspectos institucionales, sociales y culturales de la sociedad latinoamericana desde una perspectiva historica y comparada. 2.Evaluar la pertinencia de argumentos teoricos sobre los problemas de America Latina en base a informacion empirica de investigaciones realizadas en la region referente a estos problemas. 3.Identificar elementos comunes y divergentes del desarrollo de los distintos paises de la region. 4.Plantear nuevas preguntas de investigacion en torno a problematicas que enfrenta America Latina. III.CONTENIDOS 1.La pregunta por America Latina 2.Teorias de la formacion del Estado 3.El peso de las instituciones y la desigualdad 4.Confianza, violencia y sociedad civil 5.Desafios y cambio cultural IV.ESTRATEGIAS METODOLOGICAS -Seminarios: Las sesiones analizan y discuten las lecturas propuestas para cada semana. En los seminarios se vincularan las principales teorias a la evidencia empirica que la sustenta. -Aprendizaje basado en equipos: grupos de estudiantes deberan analizar y presentar la literatura propuesta en cada sesion. -Aprendizaje basado en estudio de casos: en algunos seminarios se analizaran casos concretos respecto a los problemas de investigacion presentados. -Produccion escrita: elaboracion de ensayos breves sobre lecturas semanales y un ensayo individual a cierre de semestre.
