I. DESCRIPCION
El curso aborda la manera en que el cuerpo ha sido comprendido en tanto objeto de estudio por la Sociologia. Para ello, se revisaran los principales postulados y corrientes de la Sociologia del cuerpo, sus debates actuales, asi como la aplicacion que dichas perspectivas han tenido en problematicas como la salud, la raza, el genero, los ideales de belleza, el deporte y las tecnologias.
II. OBJETIVOS
1. Comprender las principales corrientes teoricas existentes en la sociologia del cuerpo y su vinculo con los debates actuales en las ciencias sociales.
2. Comprender la investigacion empirica que se realiza actualmente en sociologia del cuerpo y sus areas de aplicacion.
3. Analizar criticamente fenomenos contemporaneos relativos al cuerpo.
