I. DESCRIPCION
El curso, a traves de la representacion de la practica medica en textos literarios, principalmente ficcion,
explorara aspectos que constituyen nexos entre la medicina y la literatura. De este modo, se analizaran
diversos textos literarios, permitiendo al estudiante observar la interaccion entre autor y fuente medica de
inspiracion, entre imaginacion y experiencia en la vida real de la enfermedad y el tratamiento medico, y la
forma en que ello se expresa en el texto literario.
II. OBJETIVOS
1. Identificar y analizar las diversas maneras en las que los textos literarios presentan la enfermedad, la
salud, y el proceso de sanacion, examinando textos ilustrativos que pertenecen a diferentes periodos
historicos.
2. Entender y examinar el significado del contexto socio-historico para la representacion de la salud y la
enfermedad -incluyendo enfermedades tanto fisicas como mentales-.
3. Desarrollar pensamiento critico acerca del significado cultural de la enfermedad, la sanacion, el
cuerpo, y la locura, y el proposito de presentar estos conceptos en textos literarios.
4. Aplicar los conceptos teoricos/generales discutidos a lo largo del curso a textos literarios particulares.
