I. DESCRIPCION

The seminar aims at providing different theoretical approaches and tools for the study and analysis of
translation, literary, linguistic, discoursal and applied linguistic problem areas worth exploring and doing
research on. The review of the most recently published literature in these areas will make the student aware
of the nature of the problems in each field and will disclose in him/her possibilities of (applied) research
    according to his/her interests.

II. OBJECTIVES

    General
    1. To acquire a general view of the most recently published literature in each English language discipline.
    2. To evaluate the reviewed literature and discover relevant problem areas to plan and carry out (applied)
           research according to teacher/student interests.

    Specific
    1. To do bibliographical research in an English language discipline.
    2. To acquire and evaluate different theoretical approaches in each discipline for a better understanding
           of relevant problem areas.
    3. To identify possible areas of research according to teacher/student interests.
    4. To gather corpora for the analysis of identified problems worth doing research on.
    5. To select a theoretical approach and apply it to the analysis and interpretation of a relevant problem
           identified in the corpus.
    6. To produce a written research paper containing the theoretical framework used, the analysis and
interpretation of the analyzed data and projections in the field of knowledge.

III. CONTENIDOS

     1. Approaches to the study of the discipline.
    2. Applications in the field of study.
    3. Identification of the problem to be studied.
    4. Gathering of the corpus/data.
    5. Analysis and interpretation of corpus/data.
    6. Projections in the field.
