DESCRIPTION This course analyses a selection of poems written by authors in English, with special emphasis on the literary and linguistic aspects of the language. It also involves the analysis of poems, the theories that feed poetic creation and its critical reception. II. OBJECTIVES 1. To develop a sensitive response towards poetic texts. 2. To recognize the main currents within the poetry written in English. 3. To know the precepts of the different critical schools. 4. To support personal appreciations through objective and informed judgement. III. CONTENTS 1. Main currents and movements within the poetry of the English language. 2. Selection of poems from the canon of poetry of English speaking countries: authors such as: Auden, Brooks, Coleridge, Cummings, Dickinson, Donne, Eliot, Frost, Heaney, Keats, Plath, Poe, Pound, Whitman, Williams, Wordsworth y Yeats. 3. Selection of critical texts of the poets being studied. 4. Selection of critical texts. IV. METHODOLOGY - Lectures. - Analysis of poems. - Discussion of essays. - Workshops. - Tutorials. V.
