DESCRIPTION The course English Language attempts to develop, in the first four semesters of the Licenciatura, the four abilities pertaining to the learning of a foreign language in progressive levels of difficulty. Regarding the Licentiate's profile, English Language II represents another step towards the development of bilingual competence, through the acquisition of functional and pragmatic management of the foreign language at an upper-intermediate level of proficiency. II. OBJECTIVES General: 1. To develop the four linguistic skills -receptive and productive- at an upper-intermediate level of proficiency. Specifics: 1. To listen comprehensively to a variety of authentic and adapted texts. 2. To improve their auditory discrimination as a pre-requisite to their own performance, and to (auto) evaluate their own/someone else's performance. 3. To identify a variety of written and oral texts: informative, descriptive, narrative and argumentative. 4. To interact in a range of everyday situations using appropriate structure and vocabulary. 5. To read comprehensively texts of different lengths and with an increasing degree of complexity. 6. To increase lexical availability. 7.
