DESCRIPCION Hasta hace muy poco tiempo atras, el foco principal de atencion de la politica comparada fueron las condiciones para la aparicion, ruptura, o supervivencia de las democracias. En los ultimos a?os, sin embargo, la mayor parte de los regimenes politicos ha preservado la estabilidad democratica. A pesar de esta estabilidad, las democracias contemporaneas estas sufriendo problemas de diversa indole donde destaca la apatia civica, descreimiento en las instituciones, y hasta un cierto cinismo respecto a la democracia representativa. Esta situacion ha conducido a la busqueda de alternativas para re-encantar a la ciudadania. Una de ellas es la inclusion de mecanismos de democracia directa donde la ciudadania puede decidir sobre temas que las instituciones no considerarian unilateralmente. II. OBJETIVOS Generales 1. Entender y analizar las causas y consecuencias de la utilizacion de los diversos mecanismos de democracia directa en el mundo contemporaneo. Especificos 1. Comprender la trayectoria historica de la democracia directa. 2. Conocer y analizar las caracteristicas de democracia directa contemporanea. III. CONTENIDOS 1.
