Descripción:   El curso se inicia preguntandose sobre la relacion entre la actividad humana y su entorno natural. Luego se pregunta como tomar decisiones que consideren esta interdependencia y se introduce el concepto economico de valor y los metodos de estimacion para recursos ambientales. A continuacion se analizan las herramientas de politica ambiental y los modelos economicos de recursos naturales renovables y no renovables. El curso finaliza con una revision de temas relevantes para la gestion ambiental de la empresa en el marco de la integracion comercial.

Descripción:   This course provides a survey from the perspective of economics of public policy issues regarding the use of natural resources and the management of environmental quality. The course covers both conceptual and methodological topics and recent and current applications. The first part of the course is an introduction to the principles of environmental and resource economics. In the second part of the course, the focus is on natural resources, both nonrenewable and renewable resources. In the third part of the course, we examine environmental policy, with the focus on air pollution problems, including: local problems (both stationary and mobile sources) regional problems (acid rain) and global problems (climate change). In the fourth part of the course, the focus is on sustainability and macroeconomic aspects of environmental policy, including positive political economy.
